Dinosaur Theme

Dinosaurs can appeal to people of all ages, and is a great theme for many different events! Because of Jurassic World, dinosaurs are especially popular right now, so why not take advantage of the trend and plan a dinosaur themed event??! Adorable dinosaur sugar cookies can be found at this Just4YouTreats etsy business! Some great activity ideas for a dinosaur themed event/party are:

  1. Charades! Act out the different dinosaurs from any of the dinosaur movies that you love! The sound effects are hilarious, and you can modify it to fit any age group.
  2. Finger painting, but not just any finger painting, for a dinosaur themed event, paint your whole hand, press down on the paper, and turn your fingers into the spikes on the dinosaur’s back! Do half fingers, and every other finger to create other prehistoric paintings!
  3. Cupcake Wars! This can work for lots of different age groups and is a fun and delicious challenge! Instructions: Have contestants (guests) decorate 1-? Cupcake(s) to look like dinosaurs using toppings like frosting tubes, candy corn, whoppers, (get creative, it’s a party) and have a contest on whose cupcake is the best. The winner gets to “devour” any cupcake of his or her choice. There’s no wrong way to do this, and don’t stress the toppings, if you want you can even use spaghetti noodles, and or toothpicks! (Just use caution that no one eats the tooth picks;) This is also a great idea for refreshments or food for the guests!
  4. You can also play dinosaur tag. The rules are the same for regular tag, but the person who’s “it” tags people by grabbing them crocodile style with their arms, imitating a T-rex’s mouth. Or if the person who is “it” always wins they have to put their arms mostly into their shirts, so only a small part of their arm is sticking out of their sleeve, like a T-rex’s or raptor’s arms.
  5. That’s all I’ve got for the dinosaur party for now….but the list will probably grow as I think of more ways to help you create your dream However, before I go I want to make sure that you can decorate your event to the max! So check out these Jurassic World party supplies,  and regular dinosaur party favors!

All Things Drama!-Once Upon a Time Theme

It seems that drama is created whenever people are involved. If you are planning an event with people involved, you may want to consider what kind of drama will be at your event. What if you picked a dramatic theme that overpowered the drama created by your guests? Once Upon a Time is a tv-series drama, produced by ABC, and is based on fairy tales, legends, mythology and more! Many of the ideas will be best understood by fans of the show, so if you haven’t watched  Once Upon a Time, now’s a great time to get acquainted with it!(link to information about show)

Games and Activities:
FullSizeRender (10)

  • Archery-This is an awesome activity that fits perfectly with the theme! Contests are also a great way to add a twist to a party, so why not give a prize to Snow’s best prodigy!
  • Bobbing for apples-This is a classic, and is also a great snack option!
  • Horseback riding- If it’s an option then take advantage of it, because it is not only fun, it’s also a great skill to learn!
  • Watching the pilot or favorite episode is also a fun activity at a Once Upon a Time themed party.
  • Pin the nose on Pinocchio-Like pin the tail on the donkey, this game is fun. However, if desired an unexpected twist could be added: (unexpected twist) There are two players that are blindfolded, and each has a “nose” and one nose would be made of wood, and the other would be a regular nose. There would be two posters or pictures, and one would be Pinocchio from once upon a time as a wooden boy/man, and the other would be the real boy/man. This adds a hilarious twist and doubles the fun! Link to a source with pictures of Pinocchio.
  • Freeze Tag with a spinning needle- This is similar to regular tag, except that the players get into groups of two, and whenever the person who is “it” tags someone; the other person from that group has to “awaken” their teammate.

Food and Drinks:

  • Feast-This would require significant work, but if it was one of the main purposes of the event, then it would work great! Elements of a Once Upon A Time feast could be a main course of your choice like Lasagna, with a salad and a desert like an apple tart, with goblets and china to help set the tone.
  • Simple Dinner-This would require less work than the feast, and could be just as fun! The simple dinner would be grilled cheese, and soup, in the setting of Granny’s diner, and the drink could be hot chocolate with cinnamon!
  • Caramel Apples
  • Crown shaped cookies
  • Apple juice or Apple cider
  • Tarts (with a label to explain that they can change the appearance of a person, like the treats from Brave/the Once Upon A Time interpretation of Brave)
  • Apples and peanut butter or caramel dipping sauce
  • Hot Chocolate-As I mentioned from the Simple Dinner, Hot Chocolate with whipped cream and cinnamon is something that is often discussed and consumed on Once Upon A Time, and all your guests (specifically the fans) will adore it!

Decorations:

  • Swords, shields, bows, and arrows are all perfect decorations
  • Storybrooke- You can decorate your event to look like a building in storybrooke like granny’s diner, or Regina’s office.
  • Yellow bugs (car)-Mini cars like Emma’s would be really cute decorations, and you could also have a cardboard version of one, and that would be a major decoration
  • Thrones-Decorating the seats like thrones make the chairs fun and attractive!
  • Fairy Tale paraphernalia are amazing decorations! For example, a “chipped” teacup, a “Once Upon A Time” book, Cinderella’s glass slipper, a crown.
